In five years, householders have seen the price of oil rise from approximately £220 per 1,000 litres to £630 at the beginning of 2012. | OFTEC Highlights 'Excellent Safety Record' Of Oil Heating | 09/04/2012 |
A new report by the Gas Safety Trust has highlighted, what OFTEC claims is the safety of oil-fired heating and cooking systems. The Downstream Incident Data Report, which reviewed carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning incidents in Great Britain between 1st July 2010 and 30th June 2011, is the first to include comparative data from oil and solid fuel installations, as well as gas and piped LPG.

Fuel poverty in England is likely to worsen, despite measures to try to eradicate it, a government-commissioned report has warned. Some 7.8 million people could not afford their energy bills in 2009, its author, Prof John Hills said. This is due to rise to 8.5 million by 2016.
