The Irish commodities conglomerate DCC plc's Energy Acquisitions subsidiary, has now completed the sales of heating oil website Boilerjuice. The site has been acquired by Welsummer Limited, a company understood to be controlled by Boilerjuice founder, Paul Ward.

A new report on bioliquids commissioned by the UK Government and written by the UK's National Centre for Biorenewable Energy, Fuels and Materials (NNFCC) suggests biodiesel could play an important role in reducing our reliance on the fossil-based oils ,which currently heat more than a million homes in the UK.

Acquisitive Irish commodities conglomerate, DCC plc, has reached a conditional agreement with Rontec Investments LLP to acquire oil distribution assets in Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, including heating oil distributor Total Butler.

The acquired businesses together employ 550 people and sold 1.5 billion litres of fuel in 2010.  The key components of the businesses are:

The rate of VAT for energy efficient improvements needs to be cut if the Government's 'Green Deal' retrofit programme to upgrade the country's building stock to make it more energy efficient is to be successful.
